Laser hair removal: before and after your sessions

For anyone booked for laser hair removal at Juvenology. Read it before every session in your course.

Laser hair removal

Before your appointment

Every course starts with a 30-minute consultation and patch test.

  • Shave the area the day before your appointment.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning and self-tan before and during your course.
  • Do not wax, pluck or thread between sessions, because laser needs the hair root in place.
  • Let us know about any new medicines, as some make skin more sensitive to light.

Please tell us if you are pregnant, you have a tan, recent self-tan or a tattoo in the area, you take any medicines that make your skin sensitive to light, or you have a skin condition in the area.

On the day

The cooled tip keeps most people comfortable, with a warm, prickly sensation as each area is treated.

After your treatment

Keep avoiding sun, tanning and self-tan, and tell us about any new medicines before your next session.

What's usually expected

Temporary redness or warmth in the treated area is common and usually settles quickly. Less often, skin can blister, crust or become lighter or darker, and burns are rare. These risks are higher on tanned skin, which is one reason to keep treated areas out of the sun.
