Aftercare for injectable treatments

For anyone who has had dermal fillers, Profhilo, polynucleotides or Juvelook at Juvenology.

Treatments this covers

Dermal fillers · Profhilo · Polynucleotides · Juvelook

Before your appointment

Before any injectable treatment, please tell us if you have a medical condition or take regular medicines, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have had injectable treatments, fillers or skin boosters before. For polynucleotides, tell us if you have a fish allergy, as polynucleotides are fish-derived.

After your treatment

Dermal fillers

Swelling, tenderness or bruising can last a few days. We explain what is normal, what isn't, and how to contact the clinic.

Profhilo

Avoid make-up for 12 hours, and avoid exercise and alcohol for 48 hours. The small bumps from the injections usually settle the same day.

Polynucleotides

Avoid make-up for 12 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 48 hours. Small raised bumps settle within a day or two, and any bruising fades over a few days.

Juvelook

Avoid make-up for 12 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 48 hours. Redness, small bumps or mild swelling usually settle within 24 to 48 hours.

What's usually expected

Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising at the injection points are common and usually settle within a few days. Less often, lumps or infection can occur. With Juvelook, small firm lumps (nodules) can occasionally form under the skin, sometimes weeks or months later.

A rare but serious risk of any injection in the face is a blood vessel being affected, which needs urgent treatment. Warning signs include severe or worsening pain, or skin that turns pale, white, dusky or blotchy. Contact us straight away if you notice these. If your vision changes, call 999 or go to A&E immediately.
