What is Psoriasis?
If you notice red, scaly, thickened patches on your elbows, knees, scalp, or other areas that don’t improve with moisturizers, you may be experiencing psoriasis.
This is an autoimmune condition that requires prescription treatment rather than over-the-counter creams.
Psoriasis occurs when the immune system mistakenly accelerates skin cell turnover. Instead of the normal 28–30 day cycle, skin cells regenerate every three to four days, leading to thick, scaly plaques that can be uncomfortable, itchy, or inflamed.

What Skin Salons Won't Tell You
It’s important to understand that cosmetic procedures cannot treat psoriasis and, in some cases, can make it worse. Chemical peels are contraindicated on psoriatic plaques because they can increase inflammation.
